Your syllabus should be located under the Syllabus menu of your Canvas course.  This can either be a form of a Word Document, PDF, or Google Doc.

Uploading Document to Canvas Syllabus


To upload a file:

  • Go to your course > Syllabus and select Edit
  • Select Insert > Document > Upload Document.  A new window will pop-up and you can drag/drop your file in the middle or click in the middle and look for the file you want to upload.  Select Submit and it will upload the file into your course and put a link on the page to that file.
  • Select Save.




To link to a Google Doc:

  • Go to your Google Doc and select the Share button (located at top right).
  • Under Get link, make sure it says Anyone on the internet with this link can view.  If it doesn't, click on Share with University of Maryland, College Park link and change the drop-down to Anyone with the linkChange Permission in Google Doc
  • Select Copy link and this will copy the URL to your clipboard.  Select Done.
  • Now go to your course > Syllabus and select Edit
  • In the body of the page, select Insert > Link > External Links.  A new window will pop-up asking for Text and Link.  Enter your Course, the word Syllabus, and the Term in the Text field and paste (CTRL+V) the link into the Link field.
